Studio Dogs (Volume 9) is the product of IMA's Studio Recording, Engineering, and Production Program for yound women, up to 24 years old, most of whom have participated in other IMA programs. In 10 days participants learn the elements of recording, including mic selectin and placement, running Pro Tools, tracking, editing, and mixing. Although the faculty teach them the basics, the students learn primarily through working on their own music (in collaboration with each other) and running gear themselves. Generally, as the session ending nears participants are working around the clock, catching naps and eating in between times they are due in the studio. Pretty much everyone wishes they could have done just one more take, one more over-dub, one more mix because---well, because they're Studio Dogs now.
